Stay-at-home mom, wife, cat-herder, book-reader, YA fantasy writer by day … TARDIS traveler by night. Ok, maybe not, but here, in the strange world of me, dreaming is allowed, encouraged, celebrated. As a kid, I created other worlds, people, and creatures, filling sketch books with pictures. So I majored in art in college with the hopes of being an illustrator. After college … after my wedding … after becoming a mom to two kids … the people and worlds that existed in my mind started shouting, so annoying. Stories formed in my head, but I couldn’t be a writer … writers are smart and cool and I was not. (who am I kidding, I’m still not) When the idea hit to write for teens, everything fell into place. Writing. Yeah!ย I’ll write a book! Several books later, I work on polishing all the words with the goal of getting those suckers published. I have stories to tell, characters and worlds to introduce to those who will love them. So I write.
But I’m also a mom … the coolest mom EVER! Well, some days maybe. I strive to help my kids discover the world around them as well as fall in love with other worlds. In other words, I’m corrupting them in all the right ways.
My husband just thinks I’m crazy, but sticks around because everyone needs crazy in their lives. (and chocolate)
The cats love me because I’m home all day providing a warm lap.
Home is good. My TV is here. Armed with the remote, I lock onto the Sy-fy channel and all its wonders. With a book constantly at my side, I plunge into so many adventures and stories. My life is simple, but fabulous, creativity my talent. I’m a bit off my rocker, but all the best people are.
Kathy, I too “am a Trekkie, Whovian, Harry Potter nerd, Browncoat, and am becoming a Sleepy head. I am not ashamed to refer to Little House on the Prairie, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or anything Narnia related.” I completely identify with believing in magic and I’m always looking for signs of it when the stars come out at night, on a walk in Muir Woods, in the laughter of children. Magic lovers, unite! In the meanwhile, I will follow your blog with interest and look forward to reading your work.
Thanks so much! I love meeting people who believe. Makes my day.
Spoken like a true introvert. ๐
It’s great that you’re writing YA novels. That’s all the rage right now. At a writer’s conference I attended in New York last summer, that’s what many of the agents were looking for. I wish I had that inclination, but I haven’t yet. Of course, by the time I do, the “rage” will move onto something else. Murphy’s Law…
Thanks for visiting my site!
Thanks for visiting my site … I’m new here.
YA is just where me head goes and that’s all we can do … follow the muse. Introverts rule the world. ๐
Hi. Nice to meet another off their rocker soul! We sound like we have quite a lot in common, glad to find you today, via Else Elsmore’s One Lovely Blog post. ๐
I love Elsie Elmore! She is terrific! And thanks for visiting, I am glad to know there are more crazy souls out there making the world a better place. ๐
Nice that you liked KRULL so much. My father produced the movie and I watched it being made in London, at Pinewood Studios. I listen to the music in my car. Too bad it didn’t make more money and have a few sequels. It makes us happy to find KRULL fans.
Wow! Cool! The music is fabulous. Krull inspires my creative brain. Love it!
